Even though the value of CSP as a dispatchable RE technology that can add to system stability is widely acknowledged and the cost for electricity generated by CSP has dropped significantly in the past years, global CSP deployment has recently shifted away from the former front-runner countries in Europe to markets in Asia and the MENA region.
Update: The MUSTEC Spanish workshop took place online on 4th of November 2020. The workshop aimed at generating ideas to facilitate the acceptance of future CSP joint projects between the North and South of Europe. It was focused on the perceived risks and benefits as important determinants for the acceptance of this kind of projects.
Gustav Resch (TU Wien) and Richard Thonig (IASS) represented MUSTEC at the digital “Policy panel” of SolarPACES conference on the 28th – 29th of September 2020. The presentations were focused on CSP Integration, Markets, and Policy and more specifically, discuss the role that Chinese CSP can play for the world, as well as the ongoing decarbonization of the European Power Sector and how CSP can contribute to this target.
MUSTEC partners held the 3rd project meeting in CIEMAT premises, Madrid, on the 19-20th of November, to review the progress of work, discuss the way forward and plan the next steps. The partners identified the challenges MUSTEC should deal with, exchanged views and opinions on technical issues, as well as ways of engaging the respective stakeholders, and organized the upcoming tasks in a collaborative manner.

On October 18th, 2017, the kick off meeting of the MUSTEC project was realized in CIEMAT premises, Madrid - Spain. The day was dedicated to the launch of the technical work, with detailed presentations and discussions on the objectives and targets set under each WP, including issues of administrative nature. The event was organized back to back with the MUSTEC Stakeholders’ Consultation, held in the same premises on October 19th, where messages from the industrial and research community, as well as policy actors were conveyed.
