Learning from CSP past project case studies and experiences
MUSTEC combines a multidisciplinary analysis focusing on three distinct time periods, namely Past, Present and Future. The work has been structured in such a way, since only after mapping the historical background and understanding the current market conditions and policy framework, will we be able to develop possible scenarios for alternative futures.
As a key step in the learning process in order to better understand the situation in the Past, Present and Future, MUSTEC deals with the engagement, consultation and better understanding of stakeholders´ views on the existing obstacles and barriers to the supply of renewable electricity on demand from CSP plants to Central and Northern European countries. Stakeholder involvement and consultation will be fundamental piece in MUSTEC as it can help frame problems and solve solutions in ways that are technically feasible and socially and politically acceptable.
Main focus is put on the analysis of the determinants of the past failure of the implementation of cooperation mechanisms of the RES 28/2009/EC and the assessment of the determinants of the uptake of CSP in Europe in the past. The combination of both will enable the identification of those factors that may become drivers or obstacles for the use of EU regional cooperation opportunities for CSP which will be analyzed in detail throughout the project.
